Grosser Arber

Grosser Arber (1,456 m) is the highest mountain in the Bavarian Forest and one of Germany's more modern winter sports areas, with a gondola, two chairlifts, the ArBär Kinderland, a funslope and illuminated, mostly snow-covered slopes. Families ski around Thurnhof and Sonnenhang, while advanced skiers take the middle section and the runs below the summit (11.9 km of slopes). The season usually runs from mid-December to late March, and an adult day pass in main season costs €48 (prices from skiresort.com as of 22 October 2026).
